Transfer questions

How long does a transfer take?
Most transfers complete within 5-7 days. Some registrars process faster. Your website stays online the entire time.
What is an EPP/authorization code?
An EPP code (also called an auth code or transfer key) is a unique password that authorizes the transfer of your domain between registrars. You can get it from your current registrar's dashboard or by contacting their support.
Will my website go down during transfer?
No. Domain transfers do not affect your DNS records or website hosting. Your site and email continue working normally throughout the process.
Do I really get a free year?
Yes. When you transfer a domain, you pay the transfer fee (which is the same as a 1-year registration) and one year is added to your current expiration date. You never lose any time you've already paid for.
Can I transfer a domain I just registered?
ICANN requires a 60-day waiting period after initial registration or a previous transfer before a domain can be transferred again. If your domain was registered less than 60 days ago, you'll need to wait.
Which TLDs can I transfer?
We support transfers for all TLDs we offer for registration — .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .dev, and 25+ more. Some country-code TLDs have specific transfer requirements. Contact us if you're unsure about a specific extension.
